Louis de Bernierres - Notwithstanding.

It's a bit 'middle England is so quaint and eccentric' for my liking and I must stop buying his books since the last one was crap too. If I erase both from my memory, he remains a superb and often unmatched author.

Read an excerpt of that in GQ recently, and heard Keef giving an fascinating interview on Radio 2 about it a couple of weeks ago. Was very impressed! Once for the birthday list, me thinks...

Am reading a signed copy of "Eleven" by Mark Watson (the stand up), as purchased by my missus at a recent gig. Very funny indeed!

I have just thrown The Slap across the room in a childish tantrum because it was so shite. Never have I wanted all the stereotyped characters - men women and children - to die horribly before I am forced to read about another 'girls night out' (wine, shoes, being checked out by businessmen etc.) or scene in which one of many vapid but rich middle-aged men wank over teenage girls in bikinis before screwing their mistresses and then returning to their 'beautiful' wives (who are, with bizarre regularity, also in bikinis) with flowers.

Yawn, yawn, yawn.

Still, if using naughty words every few lines makes a book 'edgy' and 'exciting' then it certainly makes the grade.

Not sure what happens in the end so I choose to imagine that the men drown in their own spunk (described rather too often) and the women stab themselves with their designer high heels.

Just read Richard The Novel by Ben Myers, loosely based around the disappearance of Richey Manic. I enjoyed it immensely and will be buying my own copy, having previously borrowed it from the library.

Kind of enjoyed One Day as a light read. Just finished Surfacing by Margaret Atwood (I know I'll always like her books, though this was far from the best). Re-reading A Thousand Splendid Suns (which is amazing) while I get my arse in gear and buy some new books from the charity shop. Oh to have an actual library. Ours is beyond crap and an embarrassment in a supposedly educated city. When I first popped in after moving here I assumed I'd walked into some sort of sideroom and wondered where the main library was. Oh the disappointment!

Five go away in a caravan since Cat took Rub a Dub mysterys away (need to buy new books)

And more depressingly Water and Well being: Arsenic in Bangladesh

Very little about well being so far but I know which vitamins I am defincient in and about the results of two much flouride in water  . Read about the people dying left right and centre in the Victorian era of accidental arsenic poisoning due to illiteracy, no doubt about to reach the bit about people dying of it now from wells well meaning Westerners built.
Just done vCJD then read about a spate of people likely to get it. Very frightening stuff.

Not at all what I thought I would be doing or indeed want to :?

Nothing cheerful unless you enjoy Enid Blyton, I am going back to Paddington Bear next me thinks nice n cheery.
I lost my faith with my taste for sausages and hate.
